The wedding of the year is just days away and believe it or not Royal Wedding fever is running wild here at Peel Interactive.

You didn’t have us down as royalists did you? OK, well we’re not exactly but Harry & Meghan’s big day has plenty for us techies to sink our teeth into including a brand new Augmented Reality Royal Wedding experience from US news network ABC.
ABC’s tailor-made augmented reality app is designed to give users a taste of the royal treatment ahead of Saturday’s ceremony, and you can even pose with one of the Queen’s Guards! Users can also get up close and personal with the royal carriage, which will be transporting the newlyweds around Windsor on Saturday afternoon.

After scanning an area of your choice the 3D models appear out of nowhere and instantly transport you to the heart of the Royal Wedding from wherever you are in the world. All that’s left to do then is create your very own royal wedding pics and share them with all of your friends.

Despite being a relatively simple app ABC’s augmented reality experience has already proved to be incredibly popular and it shows just what’s possible with AR and 3D modelling.

Here at Peel interactive we’ve augmented everything from books and flyers, to famous paintings and even entire rooms. In fact one of our favourite projects gave us the chance create our very own augmented reality app to bring historic figures such a Winston Churchill back to life.

We might be slightly biased but we think our work for The Parliamentary Education Centre is some of our best yet and like ABC’s Royal Wedding experience it’s incredibly immersive.

You can read more about our project for The Parliamentary Education Centre here, but now it’s time to stage as many Royal Wedding snaps as possible! Your carriage awaits…
